52 NK people served with laundry program

Lion Dori Swokowski helps Robert by feeding the dryer with quarters during Loads of Change tonight. Poulsbo Lions spent $575.25 tonight at Loads of Change ($63.75 in Lion donations).

We served 52 people, washing 94 loads and drying 104 loads. Lions Dennis Tesch and Terry Blais helped, and Ray and Ria McMahon were on hand as usual.

If you'd like to donate, our Loads of Change program can use big Hefty bags (some people need clean bags for their clean clothing); as well as more laundry detergent (pods are preferred). Thanks!

Wanted: Volunteers like YOU!

We always need volunteers, whether it's for our monthly Loads of Change at the laundromat, the Firehouse Garden (which will be ramping up soon!), or our fishing derby in late April. These are only a few of the activities we do for our community. Come and check us out on any Thursday from 12-1:30 pm at Vinland Lutheran Church, 2750 NW Finn Hill Rd, Poulsbo. Coffee and water (and usually cookies) are available.

Laundry day is fast approaching

Coming up in a week - laundry day! To take part, individuals must be from North Kitsap (Poulsbo, Keyport, Hansville, Suquamish, Indianola, Bainbridge) and unhoused or low-income.

If you're in the position to donate, packs of wipes (like baby wipes) would be nice. They come in handy, especially for the unhoused living in the woods or cars. These may be dropped off at John L. Scott Real Estate on 10th Avenue, or bring Feb. 21 between 2-6 pm to the Village Laundromat.

Lions gather to start celery seedlings Feb. 24

Poulsbo Lions will gather at Rob Ratcliff's home to plant a couple trays of celery seedlings for the community's Firehouse Garden at 10 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Ratcliff puts in many hours planning and prepping the garden. All of the veggies grown are given to ShareNet Food Bank in Kingston. Many Lions are needed - especially from May to October - to weed, plant and harvest. Please contact Ratcliff at mrratcliff@embarqmail.com if you're interested in helping. After all, many hands make light work.
