Weaver earns top award at annual picnic

Another Poulsbo Lions successful picnic is in the books. Lions from Poulsbo Noon and Evening Pride gathered in Nelson Park for an evening of food, fun, food, laughter, with more food and camaraderie.

DG Ron Smircich made his official visit at the festivities, including the annual tradition of highly competitive hillbilly horseshoes. DG Ron even got into the action by throwing the infamous toilet seat. He eventually lost to the now two-time champ, Lion Chuck Weaver.

Looking back to 1985: a Lions picnic

Our annual picnic is for Lions and their families. There would be barbecued hot dogs and burgers, corn on the cob, lots of great side dishes and desserts. Kids not only hopped in sack races, but also searched for coins in a big pile of hay. On the right - Lion Herb Armstrong starts the event.

Mike Alvarado and Jim Stark watch the games.
