Noon Lions give money, blue vest and milestone awards


Ida Courier, vice president for St. Vincent de Paul's, and Mike Deascentiis accept a $5,000 check from John Macdonald, who represents our Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund.

Deascentiis said they served 71 clients (14 new) and helped with everything from power bills and rent to gas cards and nights in a hotel. St. Vincent also puts together Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, as well as almost $1,500 in bus tokens.

St. Vincent de Paul will be celebrating 100 years in 2019!

 

Lion Diane Mayda was so happy to receive her blue vest today, especially with sponsor Kent Lord at her side.

Coffee Oasis receives $1,000 from Bellringer Fund


President Steve Calhoun presented a $1,000 check from our Bellringer Fund to Coffee Oasis Thursday. Bryan Collins, Poulsbo center supervisor, and Jeri Delaney, Hope Inc representative for Poulsbo, accepted the check.

Loads of Change following building


We helped 6 people with a combined 40 loads of laundry (washer and dryer) yesterday for our Loads of Change service project, and received a donation of quarters! Next month's Load of Change is Feb. 20 from 2-6 pm.  Special thanks to Lions Terry Blais, her daughter Sylvie (shown above right), Dave Risley and Diane Mayda for helping to feed the machines with quarters.

Leos help out Friends of the Library



19 LEOs helped the Poulsbo "Friends of the Library" with their book sale Jan. 18-20. Friday was set-up, Saturday was sales day, and Sunday was break-down and box-up day. LEOs helped in all three phases and were frequently praised for their help and enthusiasm. We had 8 LEOs from NKHS, 8 LEOs from Poulsbo Middle School, and 3 LEOs from Kingston HS.

Leos recognized for excellence for 4th year in a row



District Governor Sharon Sikes visited North Kitsap High School to meet with the NK Vikings LEO club. 1VDG Pat Burch, Lion Sherri Burch, and 19C LEO Chairperson Karl Ostheller also were there to award the club the 2017-2018 LEO Club Excellence recognition.

How impressive is this award? Worldwide there are 7000+ LEO clubs in 145 countries; 57 of those clubs received the 2017-2018 LEO Club Excellence; of the 57 clubs - 2 clubs in MD19 (District C and District F) received this award; one of the 2 clubs was District 19C NK Vikings LEO Club. Such a great group of young people.

Evening Pride Branch collects $168 wrapping gifts


$168 in donations was collected during Evening Pride's Christmas 2 wrapping sessions at Barnes & Noble Dec. 5 and 13.
