Quickie wrapping fundraiser Nov. 23

Wrap it up! Poulsbo Lions are wrapping holiday gifts till 4 pm today (Sunday) during the craft fair in the event hall at the Clearwater Casino.

A friend of Lion Michele Grenier asked if our club would be interested in wrapping gifts, with the casino making a donation. The Lions made $116 in tips. No word yet on the casino donation amount.

Lions Michele Grenier, Laurie Sarver and Gretchen Dunmire took the first ship wrapping items at the Clearwater Casino Sunday.

The Lions did an amazing job!

One of our favorite signs.

Eric and Terry Blais had a cartload of presents to get wrapped.

Show community pride with American flag fundraiser program

Lion Lee Metcalf and volunteer Eric Blais put away flags

Poulsbo Lions set up and take down American flags on 11 national holidays throughout the year. This is a fundraiser that helps us continue our service work.

Local businesses can sponsor a flag for $50 a year and Lions will install a flag in front of your store, continuing a tradition that is both meaningful and visually uplifting. (Special note: Dick Prine, who recently passed, is the Lion who started our flag program in the mid-1970s.)

You may join our flag program by contacting Dennis Deitch at (360) 271-1590.

Only 2 weeks left to place Fuji apple order

Have you ordered your Fuji apples yet? There are 2 weeks left! $50 for 40 lbs of apples is a heckuva deal AND you'll be helping out kids with Type 1 diabetes at Camp LEO, as well as our own North Kitsap HS LEO students.
The sweet flavor and firm texture of Fuji apples make them suitable for a wide variety of culinary applications.
Fresh eating: They are an excellent choice for fresh eating and snacking due to their sweet taste and satisfying crunch.
Salads: Their firm flesh holds up well when sliced, making them a great addition to green salads or coleslaw.
Baking: Fuji apples are well-suited for baking in pies, tarts, and crisps, as they maintain their shape when cooked.
Applesauce: Because of their natural sweetness, applesauce made with Fuji apples may require little or no added sugar.
Other applications: They can also be used for juicing, roasting, or creating savory dishes like roasted pork.
Please email Karl Ostheller at kostheller@comcast.net by Oct. 12 to place your order. Delivery is included!

What is a Walking Taco?

For the first time ever, Poulsbo Lions are making Walking Tacos for Viking Fest, this Friday through Sunday downtown. What is a Walking Taco (so glad you asked): We start with a bag of Fritos, add meat, cheese, lettuce, salsa, jalapenos, sour cream and a fork to eat it with while you walk around and enjoy the entertainment at the waterfront. Oh, and we'll have Coke, Diet Coke and bottled water.

Come early and you may be one of the lucky ones who gets a Walking Taco sticker ('cause they're just that cute!).
