Lions welcome new member

Welcome to our newest Poulsbo Lion, Jenny Olson, who is sponsored by Elda Armstrong.

Jenny said she joined Lions to give back to the community and to spend more time with her husband, Jeff. They have two kids, Avery and Matthew. Jenny was born in Kitsap County. She now works for 360 Realty Group.

Two Lions receive special awards

Our King Lion David Damazo loves to reward members for their efforts. At our last meeting, he presented Steve Calhoun with a clock for being an "Incredible Lion" and a bronze Lion figure to Elda Armstrong for being a "Fantastic Lion."

Armstrong, Settle earn service pins for programs

 

Tom Settle and Elda Armstrong have been lining up fabulous programs for our weekly lunch meetings for a long time. Now Past President Larry Linn has given them an award for it - a service pin. The programs are just one more reason why our club has such great meetings.

You're welcome to attend one of our Thursday meetings from 12-1:15 p.m. at 2750 NW Finn Hill Rd., Poulsbo. Coffee and water are always available. For more details, email poulsbolions@gmail.com.

Poulsbo Lions welcome Jeff Olson to our club! Jeff and his wife live in Silverdale, having moved recently from Iowa. He works at Edward Jones with another Poulsbo Lion, Glenn Anderson. Jeff's Dad was a Lion.

Gorgeous tulips for sale

Poulsbo Lions are selling gorgeous pots of tulips like this for $10 each. Each pot has 6-8 tulips in it. Please contact Elda Armstrong at elda201@centurylink.net to reserve your tulips, which will arrive the first week of April. Many thanks to Valley Nursery for supplying the tulips and helping to make our fundraiser successful.

Zone picnic is Elda's last hurrah

                            District C 2nd Vice President Lisa Ikeda and Zone Chair Elda Armstrong

Zone Chair Elda Armstrong hosted the Zone C4 picnic at her home, with approximately 36 Lions and their guests showing up. Attending were Council Chair Al Hedstrom, three past district governors - Ida Malone, David Risley and Pat Burch - Lisa Ikeda, second vice district governor, and incoming zone chair, Bob Theal. Elda will hand over the zone to Bob at the Banner Passing July 17 at David Risley's home.

Armstrong honored for 2019-2020 year as Zone C-4 chair

Past District Governor Pat Burch presented Zone C-4 Chairwoman Elda Armstrong with a plaque for her 2019-2020 year at our noon meeting Oct. 14 at Vinland's Grace Chapel. Armstrong was recently recognized for exceptional service. Her plaque says "Thank you for your energy, enthusiasm and heart for service. A consummate "team player." Armstrong is zone chair this year, as well.

Two more pancake scholarships handed out


Congrats to two more of our Viking Fest Pancake Breakfast scholarship recipients Karla Rodriguez and Nate Blanchard, both North Kitsap High graduates. Karla received her check from Leo liaison Karl Ostheller. She's planning on attending Olympic College and eventually becoming a labor & delivery nurse. Nate received the Herb Armstrong Memorial Scholarship from Elda Armstrong. Nate is going to Cal Poly, majoring in biology.

May 24 noon meeting filled with awards and banner gift

Vice District Governor Pat Burch presents Elda Armstrong with a certificate for completing the third and final leg of The Lions Journey, of which there are requirements for service, leadership and growth. Congrats Elda!

Lion Thomas from Norway presented President John Macdonald with a banner from his club today.

President John Macdonald and Vice District Governor Pat Burch were on hand to present former President Kent Lord (far right) with a centennial patch for an increase in members while he led our Poulsbo Noon Lions.
