NKHS Leos collect 960 lbs of food for Fishline

 

Way to go North Kitsap Leos for trick-or-treating on a rainy day for 960 lbs of food for Fishline!

Kathryn Mixer, NKHS Leo Club vice president, organized the event.

  

The North Kitsap Leo Club is a youth service organization at North Kitsap High School, sponsored by the Poulsbo Lions Club. The club focuses on leadership, experience, and opportunity through community service projects, such as organizing blood drives, cleaning parks, and assisting with events like Wreaths Across America. It is a large and active club, recognized for its community involvement and leadership, as shown by its many community service awards.

Armstrong single-handedly donates hundreds of pounds of veggies to food bank

Armstrong contributes more than 600 lbs to food bank

 

Our amazing Lion Elda Armstrong (also our C4 zone chair for the 2nd year in a row) contributed more than 600 pounds of veggies to Fishline this year. 

Firehouse Garden planting is underway

Our Firehouse Garden has been rototilled and a few more veggies are in the ground! Thanks to Eric Blais for rototilling and to Lions Rob Ratcliff and Terry Blais for planting seeds Sunday morning. There has been a work party one weekend day for the past few weeks. Come Sunday at 10 am to help!

 

Eric Blais is not a Poulsbo Lion, though he is married to one. He spent 1-1/2 hours rototilling over the same ground at varying depths.

 

This raised bed has hay over the soil, then fabric and has also been covered to raise the soil temperature so we can plant. It worked! This bed has peas and radishes in it.

The newly rototilled area where be where pumpkins and corn will be planted. We'll be able to grow so much more produce!

Armstrongs donate 471 lbs of produce

 

Elda & Herb Armstrong are close to exceeding their last year’s total of 471 lbs of beautiful homegrown produce! They’re at 390 pounds donated so far this season, “with more squash and pumpkins on the way,” according to Elda. Stunning dahlia bouquets are always included in their donations!
