Montessori kids get vision screened this week

Drab to fab: Amazing variety of speakers at our meetings

 

Bill Austin was today's speaker. It was great to hear about how Poulsbo went from drab and gray to the colorful fun storefronts we have today, with murals and an English phone booth.

If you would like to hear some wonderful speakers you are invited to attend any Thursday meeting from 12:15 to 1:15 pm at Vinland Lutheran Church, 2750 NW Finn Hill Road.

April speakers include Kate Ebert, Poulsbo middle school art teacher, the Poulsbo fire chief, our own Gil Williams' trip to Japan, and the new parks and rec director.

Japanese Lions welcome our own Gil Williams

 

Poulsbo Lion Gil Williams met with fellow Lions—including fellow Lion and Chiba Mayor Shunichi Kamiya—while visiting Chiba Japan.

Williams took a variety of Poulsbo Lions Club items including pins and banners, and will share his adventures with us on April 20 at our regular meeting, if you'd like to join us! 27 new animals collected for kids at Mary Bridge

Another 27 new stuffed animals were collected at our Poulsbo Lions meeting today! We're trying to really load up Mary Bridge Children's Hospital so each and every kid will receive one. Only a week left for us to collect new stuffed teddy bears and the like for kids at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital! Last week, we collected 29. You may drop off new (with tag) teddy bears at John L. Scott Real Estate on 10th Avenue in Poulsbo. Our deadline is March 29. Thank you!

 

Fishing derby set for April 29

Mark your calendars for our Hooked on Fish free fishing derby for kids up to age 12! It's set for Saturday, April 29, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Horticulture Pond by Poulsbo Middle School on Hostmark. Lions are purchasing $1,000 worth of trout to stock the pond just a few days before the derby! We'll have extra fishing poles, tackle, bait, fish cleaning and all the help you'll need. Vision team screens sight of 46 kids this week

Loads of Change helps 41 people with laundry

Poulsbo Lions served 41 unhoused/low-income people Wednesday during Loads of Change at the Village Laundromat to the tune of $624.25. We appreciated the $193.25 in donations we received, as well as the jugs of laundry pods. We washed 110 loads, and dried 110 loads, as well.

These Poulsbo Lions have been Lions for a combined 165+ years! They recently received milestone chevrons - Elda Armstrong (25 years), Michelle Grenier (10), Andy Hento (45!), and Kent Lord (15).
