Valley Nursery helps Lion tulip fundraiser bloom

We're excited to share that our tulip fundraiser brought in $4,074.47 for us to use in our community! We are especially grateful to Valley Nursery for supplying the tulips and supporting us (again!). If you weren't able to get a pot or two of tulips, look for them next year. And go to Valley Nursery for all of your plant/yard/landscaping needs. They rock!

Six show up for Firehouse Garden work party

Lion Rob Ratcliff plans and executes the Firehouse Garden. He's led this service project since its inception many years ago.

Six people - 4 of them Poulsbo Lions - showed up for the Firehouse Garden work party this morning on 10th Avenue, laying down plastic for a new planting area, weed eating inside and outside the fence, and clearing a few rows for future planting.

Sylvie Blais and Lee Metcalf tackle cutting and composting broccoli plants while Eric Blais weed eats inside the perimeter of the fence.

Another 30 lbs for the hungry

Lion Lee Metcalf stopped by the Firehouse Garden yesterday before an appointment so we put him to work hoeing weeds! We also harvested 30 lbs of celery, squash, cucumbers and tomatoes, delivering it early to ShareNet for the freshest veggies ever.

New member and a big check for St. Vincent de Paul

We had a fun meeting today. Welcome to our newest Lion, Lee Metcalf. His father was a Lion. Originally from Oklahoma, Lee came to Seattle in 1981 and moved to Poulsbo in 1994. He's a retired pharmacist. His wife died last year and their daughter lives in Bellingham. Welcome Lee!

Also at today's meeting, Lions Dennis Tesch (left) and Pat Osler presented Mike DeAscentiis of St. Vincent de Paul with a $6,000 check from our Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund.
