There will be vision screening, of course (bring old eyeglasses, readers, sunglasses you want to donate), a kids' Viking pictures coloring table, a Viking photo booth, Leo our Lion mascot, and several more things we'll be announcing in the coming months. You won't want to miss it!

What is a Walking Taco?

For the first time ever, Poulsbo Lions are making Walking Tacos for Viking Fest, this Friday through Sunday downtown. What is a Walking Taco (so glad you asked): We start with a bag of Fritos, add meat, cheese, lettuce, salsa, jalapenos, sour cream and a fork to eat it with while you walk around and enjoy the entertainment at the waterfront. Oh, and we'll have Coke, Diet Coke and bottled water.

Come early and you may be one of the lucky ones who gets a Walking Taco sticker ('cause they're just that cute!).

Smoked turkey leg booth brings in $3,500 in first year at Viking Fest

Our first sale of the day!

Vikings gotta have giant smoked turkey legs!

Lion Dan Holt takes charge of the bbq smoker.

Dan Holt's newest grandson is just about the same size as our turkey legs!

Dan Holt's two grandsons enjoy a cold banana with sprinkles.

Even princesses love our turkey legs!

A big appetite for a small gal.

Volunteers in our booth, Erin Scheunemann and Sylvie Blais, got a chance to enjoy our frozen bananas. They gave them a thumbs up!

You're not enjoying Viking Fest unless you have a turkey leg and frozen banana!

Dan Holt shows off our smoked turkey legs, which brought in $3,500 after the 3-day weekend. It was deemed a big success. We've already made plans to make it bigger in 2024!

Strawberry Shortcake is on the Viking Fest menu again

During Viking Fest, not only are Poulsbo Lions busy with the Pancake Breakfast for Scholarships, but we have a Strawberry Shortcake Booth at the Poulsbo waterfront for the 9th year. This photo showing Steve Calhoun and Ann Best is from 5+ years ago. We've updated the booth and it'll have a little Norwegian flair this May 20-22, so we hope you'll come by. 2017 pancake breakfast raises more than $4,400 for scholarships

Kent Lord, our club president, stamps a lion on a woman to show she's paid. Also at the table, Neil Torvik (handing out stamps) and Jay Dahlquist (taking money).

Our 2017 Viking Fest Pancake Breakfast attracted around 1,000 people, bringing in $4,429.95 over our costs. We had a $1,000 donation as well as $3,000 given from the Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation for a total of $8,400 toward area scholarships.

Many thanks to those who supported our breakfast, as well as our various Leo students. You're the best!
