Congrats to Lion Elda Armstrong on earning the Silver Centennial Lion pin as part of the Centennial Membership Awards program. Thanks to Elda for helping our club grow!

Donations coming in for Loads of Change project

 

Our Loads of Change yesterday helped 6 people with 20 loads in the washer and 18 in the dryer for a total of $93.25. Our next event is March 20 from 2-6 pm at the Village Laundromat in Poulsbo.

 

In addition to offering free laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets, we had bottles of water, bananas, snack packs (thanks to Steve and Karen Calhoun), men's and women's toiletry bags (thanks to Rosario's Salon), socks, umbrellas, gloves and even a couple of hand warming packets, thanks to generous donors.

 

Lion Carol Ryan spent the afternoon feeding quarters into washers and dryers. She's the best!

Come to our next Poulsbo Evening Pride Branch Club meeting and learn what we are all about. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at 7 pm in the Gallagher Building at St. Olaf's, just off of Caldart Street.

NKHS Leos assemble hygiene kits

 

Leos from North Kitsap High School helped put together 150 hygiene kits for Fishline Feb. 7.

 

 

Patzer hits 10+ years in Lions

Blue vest and milestone awards handed out

 

Congrats to Ashley Jayroe on earning her blue vest so quickly! She's pictured with her sponsor, Karl Ostheller. Also today, Lions Karen Reitan and Larry Linn earned milestone chevrons for being Lions 10 years and 30 years, respectively. President Steve Calhoun is pictured with them.

In January, 325 Poulsbo Lions put in 1,675 hours and served 19,839 people. #weserve

Noon Lions give money, blue vest and milestone awards

 

Ida Courier, vice president for St. Vincent de Paul's, and Mike Deascentiis accept a $5,000 check from John Macdonald, who represents our Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund.

Deascentiis said they served 71 clients (14 new) and helped with everything from power bills and rent to gas cards and nights in a hotel. St. Vincent also puts together Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, as well as almost $1,500 in bus tokens.

St. Vincent de Paul will be celebrating 100 years in 2019!

Kingston Leos share info with Klahowya Leos

 

Today, 7 LEOs from the Kingston High School LEO Club held an exchange with the Klahowya Eagles LEO Club, sharing project ideas.

Coffee Oasis receives $1,000 from Bellringer Fund

 

President Steve Calhoun presented a $1,000 check from our Bellringer Fund to Coffee Oasis Thursday. Bryan Collins, Poulsbo center supervisor, and Jeri Delaney, Hope Inc representative for Poulsbo, accepted the check.

Loads of Change following building

 

We helped 6 people with a combined 40 loads of laundry (washer and dryer) yesterday for our Loads of Change service project, and received a donation of quarters! Next month's Load of Change is Feb. 20 from 2-6 pm.  Special thanks to Lions Terry Blais, her daughter Sylvie (shown above right), Dave Risley and Diane Mayda for helping to feed the machines with quarters.

 

Leos help out Friends of the Library

19 LEOs helped the Poulsbo "Friends of the Library" with their book sale Jan. 18-20. Friday was set-up, Saturday was sales day, and Sunday was break-down and box-up day. LEOs helped in all three phases and were frequently praised for their help and enthusiasm. We had 8 LEOs from NKHS, 8 LEOs from Poulsbo Middle School, and 3 LEOs from Kingston HS.

Leos recognized for excellence for 4th year in a row

District Governor Sharon Sikes visited North Kitsap High School to meet with the NK Vikings LEO club. 1VDG Pat Burch, Lion Sherri Burch, and 19C LEO Chairperson Karl Ostheller also were there to award the club the 2017-2018 LEO Club Excellence recognition.

How impressive is this award? Worldwide there are 7000+ LEO clubs in 145 countries; 57 of those clubs received the 2017-2018 LEO Club Excellence; of the 57 clubs - 2 clubs in MD19 (District C and District F) received this award; one of the 2 clubs was District 19C NK Vikings LEO Club. Such a great group of young people.

Ridgeway celebrates 30 years in Lions

Evening Pride Branch collects $168 wrapping gifts

 

$168 in donations was collected during Evening Pride's Christmas 2 wrapping sessions at Barnes & Noble Dec. 5 and 13.

315 third-graders receive new dictionariesMiche

13 Evening Pride Branch Club Lions handed out new dictionaries to 315 kids at 6 schools for a total of 13 hours!

Australian exchange student swaps flags with us

 

Australian exchange student Armani brought Lions flags for our club Thursday, presenting them to President Steve Calhoun. Armani is staying with Lion Jan Kelly and is friends with Jan's previous exchange student, Lucy.
