Burch earns 100 percent zone chair award

 

Cold water, good food, gift cards and cash at Loads of Change

 

Dennis Deitch happily gave one of our unhoused clients, Kelly, $100 in a Christmas card - a gift from an anonymous donor.

We ended the Loads of Change year with gifts, gift cards, sandwiches and holiday cookies, water and more! Yesterday Poulsbo Lions spent $673.25 ($272.25 in donations) helping 40 people with 139 loads in the washers (54 small, 17 medium, and 17 large), and 112 in dryers.

A very special thanks to Lions Ray and Ria McMahon, Terry Blais, Dennis Tesch, Lee Metcalf and Dennis Deitch.

We handed out hand warmers, socks, backpacks, sleeping bags, sweatpants, jackets, toilet paper and toiletries. Thanks to those who donated items, as well as those who brought us quarters!

One phenomenol Lion

 

Our amazing Karl Ostheller received this award for being a "Phenomenal Lion" from President David Damazo at a recent meeting. Karl is most noted for work with the area Leo Clubs, but he's involved in so many other Lion projects, including Salmon Days and Fish Park.

NK High Leos help with Wreaths Across America at Poulsbo cemetery

 

The North Kitsap High School Leo Club assisted the American Legion in its Wreaths Across America event today. Lion Linda Schwind organized this community event, which saw 10 Leos and 3 Leo alumni help first with setting up, then with laying the wreaths on veterans graves. The Leo Club also assisted by purchasing 5 wreaths for this event.

NKHS Leos sort eyeglasses for LERC

 

We're so proud of all of the good things our NKHS Leos do! Here, they're sorting donated eyeglasses, which will be taken to Olympia to clean, read and sort for LERC.

Festive laundry day to end the year next Wednesday

 

This will be the most festive laundry day of the year! It's this coming Weds., Dec. 18, from 2-6 pm. Last load of laundry should be in a washer at running by 5:30 pm.

NK High School Leos celebrate International Leo Day on Dec. 5 with speeches, awards, picture taking, a slide show, pizza, cookies, and drinks. Guests included Vice District Governor Bob Johnson, NKSD Superintendent Rachel Davenport, and PCC Al Hedstrom. Also present were the Leo advisors Stephen Nolet and Kate Ebert along with Lions Steve Calhoun, Laurie Sarver, and Karl Ostheller.

Skate park looking for funds to finish

Can you help support the Poulsbo Skate Park? The first phase is done at Raab Park off Caldart Avenue, but there's much more to get the skate park finished.

We're happy to announce we're at $2,000 of our $25,000 for the Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund. Donations benefit The Coffee Oasis, American Legion Post 245, ShareNet, Fishline and St. Vincent's at St. Olaf's.
