Polish Dollar came in first in the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club Purse at Emerald Downs on July 28. The purse was $6,200.
The horse is owned by a woman (Sharon Radke), trained by a woman (Debbie Van Horne), and ridden by a woman (Deborah Hoonan-Trujillo). Polish Dollar had a time of 0:56.4 in 5 furlongs.
Lion Doug Mong organized the outing for the club. Some came home with empty pockets, while others had a bit more than they'd left with. Lion Sandi had a chance to win $500, but it wasn't to be.
Lions is kindness in action. When caring people roll up their sleeves to serve, communities grow stronger. For 84 years, the Poulsbo Lions have supported North Kitsap — from vision screenings and flags to laundry service and fresh‑grown veggies. Viking Fest pancake breakfast at new city hall a success!
After the Armory was flattened earlier this year, our club scrambled to find a new location downtown for the annual Viking Fest pancake breakfast. We ended up in the parking garage under the new city hall building, thanks in part to Mayor Becky Erickson.
