Fun and trophies for three curling couples
Poulsbo Lions know how to have fun! Three Poulsbo Noon Lions and their spouses made the journey from Poulsbo to British Columbia for curling February 15, earning the Traveling Trophy for coming the farthest.
Above, Tres from the South Hill Club with Bev and Scott Puhn. Lions Scott, Dick Prine and Jim Stark said they had fun and enjoyed "good beer."
Lion Dick practices his curling skills. His wife, Linda, earned the Sportsman Trophy. Special thanks to Linda for providing these photos.
Lion Jim practices on the ice. He brought his better half, Barb. The Poulsbo couples challenged all-comers, taking a 10-1 lead before deciding to just goof off.
Curling in British Columbia has become an annual trip for Poulsbo Lions in mid-February.

You can be a part of someone's future
How would you like to help a student go to college?
Poulsbo Lion Club helps many North Kitsap and Kingston High School students every year with scholarships via The Raab Foundation. And you can help too. Tax deductible donations from the community may go directly to an endowment for annual high school scholarships via the Poulsbo Lions/Raab Foundation Paypal account.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
Thank you in advance!

Dozens of LEOs and Lions show up for spaghetti feed fund-raiser
Our Lions' spaghetti feed fund-raiser for NK Schools Foundation was a success February 7. Above, North Kitsap LEOs help serve salad.
Lions Pat Osler (back) and Dan Murphy cooked the spaghetti.
Lion Pat Olsen mixed a little olive oil in with the noodles to keep them from sticking.
We had three Lions just cutting tomatoes for the salads!
And once the bread was buttered and baked, Lions Jim Schoettler and President Pat Burch sliced it.
Evening Pride Branch Lions Marianne, Michelle, Glenn and Bobbi helped out.
So did Lions Sherri Burch and Joe Stenstrom.
Evening Pride Branch Lion Marianne took in the money while Colleen Pritchard of NK Schools Foundation, handed out tickets.
Once everyone paid and got their tickets, Kingston LEO Kennedy Rebman (right) would stamp a star on their hand. Shown is Glen Robins of the NK Schools Foundation.
These four dished up spaghetti (left to right): Linda Prine, Lions Pauline Ostheller and Steve Swann, and NK School Superintendent Patti Page.
Lion Kent and Michelle (Evening Pride branch) took a turn serving salads.
Tess Schorn, a Kingston LEO, helped serve lemonade.
There were LEOs from Poulsbo Middle School too. Here are Kari Van Vlerah, a 7th-grader, and Grace Streun, a 6th-grader, pouring water and lemonade.
Everyone was treated to spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and a drink.
Lions Herb and Elda Armstrong enjoyed the dinner,
as did Lions Dale and Bev Armstrong.
Lion Tom Settle helped get coffee for a customer.
And Lion Rich Colpitts kept the lemonade flowing.
Courtney Carlson, a senior KHS LEO, helped clear and clean tables along with other LEO club members and Lions.
We were treated to music by the choir, as well as a boys' quartet.
Tables were set up in the back of the NK Commons where kids could create free valentines.

We cleaned up a 2nd time

Forms were signed, vests on and signs loaded into vehicles to get started with our second Adopt-a-Highway clean-up on Friday, February 7. We have two Poulsbo Lions Club Adopt-a-Highway signs off of Highway 3 now!
Former North Kitsap High LEO Kelley Vincent tries clearing Lion Jim Stark off of the shoulder... but he didn't fit in a bag.
The morning was about teamwork. It took six people less than 2 hours from start to finish to clean up three highway interchanges.
President Pat Burch braved the cold to help pick up litter.
The find of the day goes to Lion Joe Stenstrom - he found $12!
