Saying goodbye to beloved member, Dick Prine

Poulsbo Lion Dick Prine

Today at 2 pm at Nelson Park in Poulsbo, our Lions, friends and family say goodbye and remember good times in a memorial service for Dick Prine.

Dick brought our American flags service project to the club, was instrumental in the waterfront boardwalk, Fish Park boardwalks and platforms, making batter for our annual pancake breakfast and so much more over decades of service. He will truly be missed.

Our Poulsbo Lions are providing a spaghetti meal today with a dessert potluck.

A lot of people are expected and parking is limited at the park. Integrity Roofing is opening their lot for parking.

59 unhoused and needy individuals get help with laundry

Well, we managed to spend a whopping $767.30 at Loads of Change yesterday, helping 59 people with 187 loads of wash and 117 dryer loads. We kept those machines hoppin'!

Donations are EVERYTHING! We were blessed with a couple handfuls of quarters, laundry detergent and body wipes, and a check for $100. Everything is truly appreciated! (Thanks again, Brooklyn, for the gorgeous flowers!)

We help people who are unhoused, living in their cars, and who just need a helping hand. If you're inclined to donate, physical items may be dropped off at John L. Scott Real Estate on 10th Avenue, Poulsbo, attn: Dennis Deitch. Online, you can use poulsbolions@gmail.com for PayPal donations; and if you need to mail a check, please write it to Poulsbo Lions Club, PO Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370 (Loads of Change noted on the check please).

Finger lickin' good chicken at Poulsbo Lion annual picnic

43 Poulsbo Lions and family members, Leos and others picnicked at Nelson Park Aug. 14. Past president David Damazo and his wife, Becky, brought KFC chicken, Tom Settle brought corn on the cob (a Dick Prine favorite!) and others brought a variety of food and desserts to the annual potluck.

Special guests included Miss West Sound Ally Newhouse, Poulsbo Evening Pride Branch Club member Amanda Cheatham and her mom, and the new NKHS principal, Dr. Jimmy Sellers. We were also treated to Mike Regis, a past Poulsbo Lions Club president.

The evening concluded with the playing of chicken cornhole which was won again by Leo-Lion Emalee Burgh and her partner, Newhouse.
