Diamond Jubilee anniversary and auction a rousing success

Our 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary and Auction is in the books! Many thanks to the 200+ people who showed up tonight at the Clearwater Casino Resort. It was great fun!

This event grossed $57,000... and $12,625 of that is for the docks and boat cradles for the Maritime Museum (our goal was $10,000). $27,000 goes to community service projects by the Poulsbo Noon Lions, and $4,000 by the Evening Pride Branch Club Lions.

Many thanks to the Lions, Leos and community members who made this a successful event.

201 tickets were sold to the event

This is the first time we've hosted the event at the Clearwater Casino Resort. Above are the check-in/check-out tables with Kingston Leos and Evening Pride Lions ready to help.

Lion Mike Alvarado worked selling tickets with princesses.

Fat Tuesday float parade nets our club $500

Our Fat Tuesday float is at The Clearwater Casino! Lion Dennis Tesch filled out an application for our club (as he does every year - thanks Dennis!) and we were accepted this year! Terry Blais designed the float, donating the materials used.

Your vote can make a difference! Please vote for #14. It can mean big bucks for our club and the North Kitsap community.

Your vote counts for 2 when you have a Golden Ticket!

Our float is located in a non-smoking game room off of the new parking lot.

A total of 20 nonprofits were selected by The Clearwater Casino to participate in the Fat Tuesday event. Each nonprofit will receive $500, with top prizes for 1st thru 3rd places ($3,000 for 1st, $2,00 for 2nd, and $1,000 for 3rd).

The Fat Tuesday float parade takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Event Center at the casino. Hope you can make it! Lion Dennis Deitch will be pulling our float, with Poulsbo Lions trailing behind, wearing festive hats and masks.

Club float brings in $500 and great publicity

Competition was stiff for the floats entered in the Clearwater Casino's Fat Tuesday competition for nonprofits in mid-February. Entry was by lottery. With 20 spots available, we were fortunate to get one, which assured our club of $500.

Lions Jim, Pauline, Beth, Tom, Karl and Dottie with our float.
Our Poulsbo Lions Club was given a red wagon to decorate with a Mardi Gras theme featuring the club activities. Lion Dottie chaired the committee, with help from Lions Pauline and Beth, and Lion Chuck's wife, Sue. We got some great publicity, thanks to the wonderful photos of our projects showing our Poulsbo Lions in action.
Lion Pat helped get high school shop boys to build a base for the float. Nine Lions spent 178 hours constructing, decorating and transporting the float to the casino. Lions Chuck, Tom and Jim helped with transportation.

Our club didn't garner enough votes during the week of February 15-21 to win. Casino employees judged the floats during a parade on the evening of the 21st, which saw Lion Dennis pulling the float with a contingent of Lions following (Bev and Dale, Lynnea, Pauline, Dottie, David, George, Nancy, Beth and Erika).
