Lions-Rotarians food drive nets 2+ tons of food, cash

Poulsbo Noon Lions' President Pat Burch got help from 7-year-old Regan Vincent in front of Central Market Friday after the last shift of the food drive to benefit Fishline food bank. The Friday and Saturday event marks the first time Poulsbo Lions have joined efforts with the local Rotary Club, and it was a huge success, bringing in 5,433 pounds of food and $2,113.07 in cash donations.

Food was collected in the Fishline van after each 2-hour shift. Thirty-one Poulsbo Lions worked 98 hours, while 32 Rotarians worked 102 hours.

There was a Rotarian and Lion at each entrance of Central Market, Albertson's, Walmart and Red Apple grocery stores from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Above, volunteer Regan Vincent with Rotarian Jessie Nino and her friend Gwen in front of Central Market.
