New officers come in, awards given out

June Cotner receives the Invisible Lion Award with Sandi Dahlquist and President Kent Lord looking on. June handles PR for our club and is responsible for the articles and photos published about our club in the local newspaper.
Poulsbo Lions enjoyed an evening celebration at The Point Casino June 23 that included the installation of officers for 2016-2017, and awards. It was the first year our club has used that venue.

Incoming officers are Kent Lord (president), John Macdonald (1st vice president), Steve Calhoun (2nd vice president), and Ginger Shields (3rd vice president), Jay and Sandi Dahlquist (treasurer and secretary, respectively), Sherri Burch (membership), Scott Puhn (tail twister), Andy Hento (lion tamer) and our board of directors - Dennis Deitch, Greg Supancheck, Jan Kelly and Bob Springer.

Steve Calhoun earns the President's Appreciation Award with Sandi and Kent looking on.
Awards were given to Tom Stark (Rookie of the Year), Andy Hento (Spirit Award for his ever-present cheerful demeanor), and Terry Blais (Martin Anderson Lion of the Year).

Award winner Jim Schoettler, Sandi, Barb Stark and Kent.
Barb Stark presented Jim Schoettler with the Gordon Smith Fellowship because Jim Stark had specifically chosen Jim as the recipient. A special appreciation award was presented by King Lion Kent to Barb and her family in memory of Jim Stark, who passed away in April.

Our newest Melvin Jones Fellow John Macdonald, receiving his plaque from Sandi.
North Kitsap High teacher and Leo Club Advisor Stephen Nolet received an award from Karl Ostheller for his service.
Karl Ostheller presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Leo advisor Stephen Nolet, who teaches at North Kitsap High School. All four Leo advisors were invited to the banquet. Jim Stark coerced Nolet into taking on the Leo Club, promising him his room at the school in return.

Joe Stenstrom received the first Lennie Baylor Scholarship Award from Sandi.
Joe Stenstrom was awarded a scholarship in memory of Lion Lennie Baylor, who died earlier this year. Joe will be continuing his education at Western Washington University, where he is an excellent student!

Lions, Leos help at CF Walk

Some Poulsbo Lions and NKHS Leos helped set up for the Cystic Fibrosis Walk Saturday, setting up tables and chairs, moving chain link fence sections, setting up hay bales for people to sit on while listening to live music, and taping up and painting signs. Event registration started at 9 in a field behind Home Depot. There were monster trucks, a classic car show, military and law enforcement vehicles, a Home Depot kid project, coloring contest and more!

Leos and kids help paint in the CF Walk logo stencil at the starting line.
