Pot party a rousing success

With many hands, the work of emptying city flower baskets only took about an hour this morning at Bill Austin's place Saturday, Nov. 21. Many thanks to Poulsbo Lions Kent Lord, Karl Ostheller, Pat Burch, President Jim Stark, Terry Blais and her teens, Chase and Sylvie, and Larry, a helpful neighbor.

Lion Kent's work party is affectionately referred to as a "pot party."

Larry and Jim work together to empty the flower pots.

Lion Kent Lord watches as Lion Pat Burch pulls at some dead plants to get the dirt out of the basket.

Everyone developed their own method for emptying the baskets. Here, Lion Karl Ostheller dumps the wooden basket upside down and shakes it.

Chase Blais, 16, gets the chunk of packed dirt out of the wooden basket.

Now that the plastic pots are out of the wooden baskets, the baskets can be cleaned up and repaired for the next season.

New roof for storage shed

A handful of Poulsbo Lions worked to replace the leaky storage roof this morning at First Lutheran Church. Heading up the project is Lion Tom Settle, with help from Lions Scott Puhn, John MacDonald, Steve Calhoun, Karl Ostheller and Pat Burch.
