A delicious evening of steak

Our annual Steak Night is a feast for the eyes, and one that signals the end of our calendar fund-raiser, with those Lions selling 20 or more calendars earning a free steak dinner. Our Poulsbo Lions met October 29 at the Masonic Hall in Port Gamble.

Chuck Weaver was on one grill.

John MacDonald manned a second grill. These two have been cooking the steaks for years.

Inside the hall where it's warmer and drier, Scott Puhn talks to Dennis Deitch and his wife, Denise.

Screening eyes one pair at a time

Poulsbo Lions screened 21 children at Vinland Elementary Tuesday, October 13, and were on hand for more free vision screenings at Gateway's Operation Day of Hope last weekend.

Our vision screening committee has many more dates coming up. If you know of an event or school in the North Kitsap area that would like Lions to offer free vision screenings, please call Jim Schoettler at 598-3151.

Birthday calendars net approximately $2,329

Our 2016 Birthday Calendar fund-raiser brought in approximately $2,329 that will benefit the community.

Every year for the past 61 years, Poulsbo Lions have sold tear-off calendars to North Kitsap residents that lists their birthdays and anniversaries. Many of the advertisers offer discounts or freebies the week of these events, which is great fun - especially for kids.

This year, our club members sold 254 calendars. Any Poulsbo Lion who sold at least 20 calendars gets a free steak dinner on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Port Gamble. The menu includes a tossed salad and baked potato.

Many thanks to the residents and businesses who support our calendar campaign!
